Nx Witness Monitor is the tool we built after a customer discovered their video surveillance system had been down for three days without anyone noticing. It hourly-syncs systems, servers and device status via the Nx Witness REST API and sends a mail alert when servers or cameras have been offline for three hours or more.
Alongside alerting it keeps hourly backups of the state — enormous value for incident investigation after the fact. "When exactly did camera X go offline?" becomes a readable question instead of a log-scraping exercise.
